The Oklahoma State University Botanical Society (OSUBS) is a student organization, which includes both undergraduate and graduate students, dedicated to promoting the botanical sciences and the educational enrichment of students majoring in botany and related disciplines. We accomplish this by stimulating the acquisition of knowledge via research, projects, seminar programs, field trips, and social gatherings.
OSUBS was conceived of and established in the fall of 2000 by a group of undergraduate and graduate students with the support of the faculty of the Department of Botany. Since then the society has sponsored several camping and rafting trips to various parts of Oklahoma. OSUBS members have also attended and presented at several scientific meetings such as Oklahoma Academy of Sciences.
OSUBS is also a supporter of outreach programs for the students of OSU and the citizens of Stillwater. The society has been involved in Earth Day on the OSU campus, Nature Day?at Sanborn Lake, and canned food drives. OSUBS also has donated money to the United Way, The Nature Conservancy via the adopt a Buffalo?program, and Earth Day.
