7:11 Scott Byrd explains the Eco Film Project. Fall films target consumption and lifestyle. Show a documentary with a discussion that follows. Films in 313 CLB. Scott needs 2 volunteers each evening to help with various things. Also Scott is beginning to work on Earth Day-trying to get a great speaker and raise money, so if anyone would like to help now contact him.
7:15 Clay explains that is goal tonight is to get a feel for where we are going to go this year.
7:18 everyone introduces themselves.
7:38 Clay explains that where the group goes is up to the group as a whole. Compiling resources is a goal.
7:40
Discuss issues: what would you like to see happen on campus??-
get rid of styrofoam
increase awareness in the community
vegetarianism
educate this group on how to educate others
educate freshmen on recycling right when they enter (greening
the curriculum)
cut back on cars on campus-address fuel emissions
deconstruct the industrial military mindset
fair trade coffee campaign
grass watering takes place in the middle of the day
turn off lights at night
educate custodial staff about where to take recycling
take a platform to the new President of the university
7:55
Break into groups to discuss these ideas in depth.
7:05 Pass out info
7:08
We are having a constitutional change so that we can become registered,
this basically means we can get funding. We altered how we select
faculty advisor and that we will bank with OSU. The constitution
was passed around and it was asked if there were any objections
to these changes. CSO must meet and decide, however Clay has spoken
with them and we are a go.
The next scheduled meeting is Oct. 1, 7pm room 108 CLB. We only
have 5 more scheduled meetings after this.
Next week is the first Eco Film Project screening: Affluenza, Tuesday, September
17, 7-9 pm 313 CLB.
This Sunday is the first Pot Luck. Dr. Caniglia will be hosting it, directions
to her home can be found on the Eco-OSU web site: http://www.okstate.edu/osu_orgs/eco/

to new projects. It was suggested that they promote the victory
so that the campus could rejoice with us. They are looking at
a campaign to exclude Boise-Cascade paper from the SU bookstore.
3. Campus Ecology - The committee has many projects in infancy.
One is an "Adopt-a-Bar" program, where the Greek system
would collect a bar's recyclables. Another is a critical mass
bike ride in conjunction with the Mountain Biking Club. The third
is a tour of campus highlighting the various good/bad ecological
practices employed at OSU.

7:31 Nicole Cosman--Into the Streets--Eco is thinking about cleaning an area of Stillwater. The application is due Oct. 30 and the actual event Nov. 9. A great amount of support was shown for cleaning up a recycling drop off center for this event.
7:35
Clay Barrett--many have expressed the desire to have a showing
for lack of support for the War in Iraq. Maybe something could
be done on the 28th, just two days after the rally in DC. We can
let Amnesty International take the lead and just give support.
However, many people in the meeting
expressed the desire for Eco to remain apolitical. So anyone who
wishes to be a part of this can but it's not official Eco support.
Thursday at 9:30 at the Third Place a group of people from all
over campus and from different organizations will be working on
organizing such an event, all are welcome.
7:38
Jason Christian--RUCKUS-this weekend we held a state wide conference

making into something we can pass on

on with each committee!!!
The Potluck/Holiday Party for ECO-OSU will be Friday December 6, at Dr. Caniglia’s house. Directions on the web site
We discussed when our meetings would be held next semester: We decided to begin a dialogue on the listserve to see if anyone has any suggested times/days. If no one objects, then it will be at the same time (Tues. at 7).
We talked about when the first meeting should be next semester, and the majority agreed that the first week would be the best day because if we do it on the second week of school, then it will be conflicting with the film schedule in the future.
Revise the ECO brochure; volunteers needed. Jason can work on that along with whoever else.
If we are doing the Corporations on Campus campaign next semester, then we should call Nicholas from UCO.
The Global Issues committee will be working in conjunction with the ECO Film Project (EFP) next semester to further raise awareness about those issues, by tabling inside, during the film (similar to what the education committee did during DIET…).
We have a budget meeting scheduled to discuss next years funding, etc. The meeting will be at the Third Place coffee shop on Washington, Thursday Dec. 5, at 5 pm.
Scott talked about the EFP and we thought it would be a good idea for volunteers to talk to their professors, even before the semester starts, to see if they can offer extra credit for their students to see the films. The professors who teach subjects that apply to the issues in the film should definitely be approached.
A flyer needs to be made for next semester’s film series. Jason may work on that. If anyone has any ideas or wants to help, that would be great.
We need volunteers to help with Earth Day, which is April 22.
^ topAttendance: 14

concern.
7:55

It would be a great idea to get re-connected with the Student
Sierra Coalition, furthermore they have great summer training
programs that
the new officers or Eco members in general may want to attend.

PRIDE--and OSU alum would like to start up a publication in
Stillwater that could be a catalyst for certain portions of the

marginal now, as well as bind the community. What he would like
from us
is footwork, people in the alternative community who can submit
publications on local issues, and people to find businesses for
advertisements. People
interested in working on this will be meeting with the alum on
Monday.
7:31
Amanda Forman picked up the boxes for ink cartridge recycling.
We
take the boxes to the offices, they put in cartridges, and we
take them
