Met at 6:30 in the Student Union, room 419

  1. Meeting called to order at 6:30 p.m.
  2. Pass out listserve and tabling sign-up sheets.
  3. Old business
    1. Dues: will be collected at next meeting (September 21)
    2. Cook-out: was fun, but needed Vegan food and should have been on time.
  4. ECO film announcement. Unprecedented, Thursday at 7pm.
  5. Tabled the Spirit Walk idea.
  6. Two liasons are needed for Progressive Student Coalition. Talk to Jeff if you want to be one.
  7. Next Veggie Potluck will be on September 18 in the afternoon. Place is TBA.
  8. Break into committees

The next ECO meeting will be at 6:00 pm in 419 Student Union this Wednesday. That's 6, not 6:30. We will be discussing the film on Thursday, the vigil that occurred yesterday, Rock The Vote, and then we will break up into committees.

We will be having our next meeting this Wednesday, October 20 at 6:00 P.M. in SU 419. Again we have moved the meetings to 6 in order to work with everyone's schedules. We will be discussing our exciting fundraiser, "Give Cash to Eliminate Trash." Hope to see you there.

Jeff called the meeting to order at 6:05pm

  1. Elections
    1. President: Kara Cook elected by acclamation.
    2. Secretary: Caroline Summers elected by acclamation
    3. Webmaster/Historian: Daniel Narvaes elected by acclamation
  2. Web Page difficulties: Kara and Jeff will contact Clay.
  3. Treasurer's Report:
    1. Spent all of AFAP $, need to apply for AFAP by January.
    2. Bonnie spent $600 on ECO films.
    3. Need to talk to Clay.
  4. ECO film report:
    1. Bonnie bought a new series for Spring.
    2. Should we play the film Blue Vinyl on April 7?
  5. Recycling Chair report: Joe St. John is looking for a van for us; FRC, Golden Key, Circle K are all groups that have volunteered to do pick-ups
  6. Earth Day Update: will play all the films again on Monday night of Earth Week. Jeff needs to reserve the room from 6-9 every other Wednesday for next semester. Reba needs to get fundraising request letters done. Latasha needs to talk to Dr. Kimball about Campus Cast-off for Earth Day this year.
  7. Recycling Fundraiser: Should we do it on-campus? It will be on Friday night, on the second week of Spring semester. We need to find a new band to play. Jeff will promote it. If we do another fundraiser, can we do it in Stout Coffee or in the K-D mezzanine? Will the SGA Recycling Committee match funds?

We have an ECO meeting on Wednesday at 6pm in 108 CLB. We will discuss volunteering at the Humane Society, getting recycling on campus, potlucks, native plants on campus, AFAP funding, and, of course, Earth Day.

The first Earth Day meeting will be at 7pm in 108 CLB (following the ECO meeting). Reba's in charge of that--we will be discussing speakers (the Wildlife Society wants to bring in Wendell Barry), P.R., and events planning.

  1. The Humane Society is open from 1:00-5:00 p.m. on Saturdays for anyone that would like to volunteer. The Humane Society is located on the far south end of Main St.
  2. Chalking sidewalks to advertise our next meeting - Meet at the Chi-O clock, Monday, March 21st at 5:00 p.m.
  3. The Oklahoma Sustainability Network is having their 2005 conference on April 8th. If you would like to volunteer at this event you can get in for free.
  4. ‘Adopt a Recycling Center’ – As a group, ECO-OSU would go to a designated recycling site, a required, once a quarter (every 3 months) but hopefully more often. We’re contemplating whether or not to make this commitment.
  5. At Earth Day, Staples is kicking off their white paper recycling.
  6. Also, we are still looking for good bands to play at Earth Day.

  1. March 31st – ECO Film. Coming Home. 7:00 p.m. Noble Research Center. Room 106.
  2. April 8th – Sustainability Network Conference
  3. April 16th – ‘Trash Off’ contest. As a group, we would pick up trash. And the group that picks up the most trash wins the contest and a prize.
  4. April 22nd – End of the year party. 6:00 p.m.
  5. ‘Adopt a recycling site’. As a group, we would go once a month to a recycling site and pick up the recyclables that didn’t make it into the recycling bins

Earth Day Committee meeting at 6:30 PM

  1. April 19th – Film at 7:00 p.m. "The End of Suburbia."
  2. April 21st – ES Luncheon
  3. Ideas for promotion:
    1. pet photo contest
    2. games
    3. still looking for good bands
    4. newspaper advertisements

    6. A-frames
    7. tabling:
      1. April 14th and 15th; the Thursday and Friday before Earth Day celebration.
      2. April 18th and 19th; the two days before Earth Day.
    8. make buttons: Sundays, April 10th and 17th.
    9. Campus Cast Off: a ‘rummage sale’ of clothing that will be sold at Earth Day.
      1. March 31st; meet at 5:00 p.m. at the Chi-O clock to go and distribute boxes to collect clothing.
  4. Next Earth Day Meeting: March 30th, at 6:30 p.m. in CLB 118

Earth day committee met at 6:30 in CLB 121. The secretary was absent, so there are no official minutes, but present were Reba, Latasha, Beth, Daniel, and someone else. We discussed a lot of different things. Button making, end-of-year party, sponsors, tablers, advertising, t-shirts, the website, and the banner.
