Article I
Identification
Section 1: The name of
the organization shall be the Oklahoma State University Human Resource
Management Association
Section 2: OSU Human Resource Association hereinafter referred to as the
chapter.
Article II Purposes
The purpose of the chapter shall be as follows:
A) To acquaint students considering a future in the field of human
resource management.
B) To keep students up-to-date on new developments in the field of human
resource management.
C) To develop a nucleus of truly professional human resource managers
for the future.
Article III Membership
Application for membership shall be made through the chapter. Annual
dues shall become payable upon joining the chapter. Student members of a
chapter who pay annual dues to the Society for Human Resource Management
(SHRM) shall be designated as student members of SHRM.
Article IV Meetings of
Members
Notice of the time and place of each meeting shall be served not
less that seven (7) days before the meeting.
Five voting members present at any meeting shall constitute a quorum.
Such quorum may, by majority vote of the members present, transact any
business which may properly be brought before the meeting except
otherwise indicated in these bylaws. A meeting may be adjourned or
recessed by majority vote of the members present whether or not a quorum
is present.
At all meetings of the members, the president, or if absent the vice
president, shall preside as chairperson. In the absence of said
officers, the chairperson shall be elected by a majority of the members
present.
Article V Officers and Duties
The following five (5) officer positions shall be elected by the
membership, shall constitute the chapter's executive board, and pay
annual dues to SHRM.
The Duties for each position shall be as follows:
President/President Elect
1. Serves as chief executive officer of the chapter
2. Calls executive meetings when needed
3. Liaison between state and national organizations and student chapter
4. Organizes guest speakers and chapter activities
5. Follow all requirements for Special Merit Award
6. Authorization to sign all legal documents, including monetary
transactions
Vice President
1. Takes the President or President Elect's place in the event of
their absence
2. Public relations (including professors)
3. Recruitment of new membership
4. Coordinates all committees
Secretary
1. Keeps records of the proceedings at all chapter meetings and
executive meetings
2. Correspondence including invitations to speakers and subsequent notes
of thanks
3. Current records of membership
4. Sending of monthly newsletters
5. Promote SHRM and Grassroots
Treasurer
1. All financial affairs associated with the chapter
2. Collect all monies due to the organization and disburse monies
3. Keeps President/President Elect aware of the financial condition of
the chapter
4. Presents monthly financial reports
5. Investigates additional options (fundraisers etc) to supplement the
chapters income
Business Student Council
Representative
1. Attend all business student council meetings (Every other
Thursday at 4:00)
2. Presents monthly reports to BSC members relating to HRM activities
3. Presents monthly reports to HRM members relating to BSC activities
4. Organizes activities that the chapter can sponsor through BSC
Elections
Each officer shall be elected on the basis of plurality of votes
cast for that office. In the event of a tie vote, successive balloting
shall be conducted until one candidate receives a plurality.
All elected officers shall be expected to hold their office and
faithfully discharge it's duties until the end of the academic year.
However, in the event that any officer is unable to complete his/her
term of office, an election shall be held to fill that office as soon as
it is conveniently possible for the chapter.
