Thanks to everyone who attended the 2007 Southwest District Convention - this year's event was a great success!!

Alpha was proud to receive the Superior Achievement Award and Steve Nelson History Award from the Southwest District, as well as the Host Chapter Award from the National Council.

Brothers Clinton Wieden and Holly Tetreault concluded their service on the Southwest District Council at the convention. Thanks for your years of work!

Thanks also go to Austin Ambrose for serving as the chapter delegate.

Congratulations are extended to Holly Tetreault for becoming the fourth Alpha brother to receive the J. Lee Burke Student Achievement Award, and to TBS-Alpha sister Andrea Shafer, who was elected Southwest District President.

The Alpha Chapter has been named as one of 11 recipients of the Chapter Leadership Award for the 2005-07 biennium. This honor makes Alpha a finalist for the William A. Scroggs Founder's Trophy, to be presented during the 2007 National Convention in Orlando, Fla.

Congratulations go to our sister chapter of Alpha, Tau Beta Sigma for being named finalists for the Grace and A. Frank Martin Chapter Leadership Award, also to be presented at the 2007 National Convention.

Some quick notes during the summer break...

• The Alpha chapter welcomes Dr. D. Bradley Snow, the new director of the Cowboy Marching Band.

• Thanks to all who attended the Chapter Leadership Conference, District Day, and the Dallas Leadership Symposium!

• Summer Band Camp begins the night of August 13 and continues through August 18. KKY-TBS Workday is August 12, and student leadership training is the afternoon of the 13th. More information on Band Camp as it is made available.

The Alpha chapter is proud to announce the following news from the 2006 Southwest District Convention:

• The Alpha chapters' bid to host the 2007 Southwest District Convention was accepted pending minor modifications.
• Brother Clinton Wieden was re-elected as Southwest District President.
• Brother Holly Tetreault was elected Southwest District Vice President.
• TBS - Alpha sister Randy Kitchens was elected Southwest District President.
• TBS - Alpha sister Andrea Shafer was elected Southwest District Secretary-Treasurer.
• The Alpha chapter received the Superior Achievement Award and the Steve Nelson History Award. The chapter also received the award for Outstanding Table Top Display jointly with TBS - Alpha.
• Brother Clinton Wieden was presented with the J. Lee Burke Student Achievement Award, the Fraternity's highest honor for students. He becomes the third brother of Alpha to receive this honor.
