Snippet #15 - "Letter to Boh Makovsky" by William A. Scroggs, taken from book of personal letters presented to Boh by former students on December 7th, 1939, on the occasion of his Silver Anniversary at OAMC. Steve Nelson: "The following letter was presented to Boh in a book of letters from his former students, and colleagues. Each of the letters was filled with warmth and emotion, you can tell that they meant what they wrote and were unabashed at putting their feelings down on paper. Have you ever had such a relationship with one of your instructors such that you would feel compelled to write such a letter? It's mind boggling. Here's a little glimpse into why Boh is important to Kappa Kappa Psi. This letter was sent in on letterhead from the Bankers Life Company of
Des Moines, Iowa. The letter came from the Denver, Colorado office. It
pretty much speaks for itself." Denver, Colo. November 14, 1939 Mr. Bohumil Makovsky, Director, Dear Boh: Sincere congratulations on this, your twenty-fifth year as Director of the Nationally famous O.A.M.C. Band. You are unquestionably Oklahoma's greatest benefactor, since the nature of your work is such that its influence is reaching into every corner of these United States, and even abroad, and it will continue down through generations yet unborn. To me Boh--you are one of three living men for whom I have a feeling of Reverence akin to that of Deity -- one, for whom I would go to the ends of the earth. In other words "my Champion", that part of your great heart and soul, which you gave to me--has contributed immeasurably to my present position in life, as well as to thousands of others. Therefore, may God allow you to remain with us for many, many years to come and give to you strength, to continue your great work and influence that thousands of other fortunate boys and girls may be inspired by your dynamic personality, your gracious heart, your philosophy of life, your happy disposition and your love and appreciation for all this is good. With kindest of personal regards always--and best wishes to you and your adorable Sweetheart, I am always, Most sincerely and fraternally, W. A. "Bill" Scroggs Grand Second Vice-President.
